The job that costs you when it slips

Identity verification is the biggest change to Companies House in a generation, and the rules are being switched on in stages. Most directors are not sure whether it applies to them yet, what they have to do, or what happens if they ignore it.

Get it wrong and the consequences are real: unverified directors and PSCs cannot file, which means a blocked confirmation statement and potential penalties. The process itself, through GOV.UK One Login, also trips people up, especially overseas directors.

  • Not knowing whether the rules apply to you yet
  • Unsure who counts as a PSC that must verify
  • GOV.UK One Login that is fiddly to complete
  • Overseas directors struggling with UK ID checks
  • Filings blocked if any director is unverified
  • Penalties and restrictions for non-compliance
What we do

Hand it over, and consider it handled

Under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act, Companies House identity verification is now a legal requirement for directors, People with Significant Control and anyone filing on a company behalf. It is being rolled out through 2025 and 2026 and is becoming a condition of forming a company and filing your confirmation statement.

You can verify either directly through GOV.UK One Login or through an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP). We guide you through the process, make sure every director and PSC is covered, and can carry out verification for you so your filings are never blocked.

Yes. The rules apply to directors and PSCs of companies of all sizes, including single-director companies. We confirm your timing so you are neither caught out nor rushing.

I have already started, can you check it is done right?

Yes. We can confirm that you and your fellow directors and PSCs are properly verified and that nothing is outstanding before your next filing.

Can you handle it alongside my confirmation statement?

That is exactly how it should work. We line up verification ahead of your confirmation statement so the filing is never held up.

FAQ

Companies House ID Verification questions, answered

What is Companies House identity verification?
It is a new legal requirement under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act for directors, People with Significant Control and people who file for companies to prove who they are. It is designed to improve the reliability of the register and tackle fraud, and is being introduced across 2025 and 2026.
Do I have to do it, and by when?
Yes, if you are a director or PSC. New directors verify when they are appointed or form a company; existing directors and PSCs are being phased in, usually around their confirmation statement date. We tell you exactly what applies to your company and when.
How do I verify my identity?
You can verify directly through GOV.UK One Login using photo ID, or through an Authorised Corporate Service Provider. We can guide you through One Login or, as an authorised provider, carry out the verification for you.
What happens if I do not verify?
Unverified directors and PSCs will be unable to file, including the confirmation statement, and may face penalties or restrictions. Verifying in good time keeps your company compliant and your filings unblocked.
Can you verify me if I live overseas?
Yes. Overseas directors often find GOV.UK One Login harder to use. We help non-UK directors complete verification so their UK company stays compliant.
